Edge case

Splits, overlays, and clawbacks.

A split is easy to type as 60/40. It is harder to say whether you split credit, commission, or both, and what happens when the customer refunds after payroll has paid the original total.

Split the right thing

Credit split changes attainment. Commission split changes the check. Doing both by accident double-applies the share. Write which one the plan means before the deal is entered.

Overlay is not another share

An overlay manager is paid on someone else’s credit. That amount is not also one of the rep shares. If the shares plus the overlay exceed the deal, the sheet has counted the deal twice.

Clawback after payroll

A refund does not edit last month’s statement. It is a new negative line that names the original payout, the rep, and the period payroll already closed. A draw works the same way: recovery is its own line, not a quiet change to the old total.

Three rows worth testing.

The complexity checker builds a synthetic matrix for these options. The dollars are a $10,000 example, not a payout.
